Valencya Thompson, M.Ed., S.Ed., PPS is a certified school psychologist approaching fifteen years within the field. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from College of Charleston, Master of Education in School Psychology and Specialist of Education in School Psychology degrees from Georgia State University. Thompson has also completed two years of divinity school at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Thompson, as school psychologist, has worked within school based systems in the state of Georgia, across metroAtlanta and within the Oakland Unified School District of California. Valencya Thompson became a certified coach with The Orange Duffel Bag Initiative in 2021. She has impacted youth and adults who work with youth by coaching across a variety of systems. This includes school districts serving students of low socio-economic status (SES) and those of high SES, foster youth within the Department of Family & Children Services (DFCS) of Georgia, within group home and individual family placements.

 

As Coach, Valencya has coached young adults who are graduates of the foster care program in Georgia and in California. Coach Valencya has also coached adults in a variety of business sectors. Coach Valencya has worked with every level of Educators who directly engage youth; from School Administrators (CEOs & Principals), school counselors, social workers, classroom teachers, to paraprofessionals and every related service provider directly working within schools. She has done such work within traditional public schools, charter schools, and within the private sector. Serving not only brick and mortar schools, but also schools who serve virtual populations as well. Understanding the importance of following through Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) as an integral portion of meeting the needs of the whole child has propelled her to push people past fear as Educators.

 

Thompson is also the Founder of Life Psychoeducational Evaluations & Consulting, and the Founder of Write The Vision Creative Works (publisher) with years of coaching and leadership experience.

Thompson specializes in providing psychoeducational evaluations and a range of consulting services designed to Empower Educators and enhance student learning. Known for effectively coaching Educators, through the MTSS/SST process and Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS), along with Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS), Thompson understands the critical nature of communicating responsibilities to Educators and in circumstances when they are mandated to use IDEA funds in specific categories. It is important for Educators to understand when their school systems have been identified as one with significant disproportionality in identification, placement and/or disciplinary removals. Thompson is the woman for the job!

This process is to be established while also meeting parent concerns when simultaneously effectively addressing student needs through direct and indirect services, and Coach Valencya possesses the know how to coach Educators into more effective leadership in intervention fidelity.
